Excellence in Human Resources
VP/Director of Human Resources
When asked what makes her an effective human resources executive, Kelly bleeker turned to her team. In the end, their responses mirrored what she would have said.
"I would probably agree with them that it's my drive for measurable results," she says. "HR has a scorecard that measures our effectiveness at attracting, managing and retaining talent. The whole team keeps score to ensure that we are making progress against key priorities."
In providing advice for other human resources leaders, Bleeker need look no further than her employer. The place one works should provide fertile, challenging providing grounds for one's professional skill - and an appreciation for the role HR can play within the organization.
"I recommend that they are deliberate about the companies for which they work," she says. "Those companies, and leaders, that demand a lot from the HR function also tend to recognize the value that it can add to the company,"
Though surrounded by professionals, it was Bleeker's father who served as her role model.
"He has an undeniable work ethic. I don't think he'll ever retire," she says. "He always told me that he never wanted to hear the word 'can't'. It doesn't exist', he would say. That's probably also why I hate it when people tell me 'no!'"
In the end, it's her team that drives Bleeker to action and results.
"They are completely competent," she says. "And they bring it."
